CTM 2027 will take place at Radialsystem, Berghain, RSO.Berlin, Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, Morphine Raum, and Haus der Visionäre, among other venues. More than ever, the festival programming will be a momentary manifestation of sustained conversations, collaborations, and exchanges, driven by a multiplicity of voices in dialogue.
First acts, the festival's visual CI, and early-bird festival passes will be announced mid-September.
Theme: Process…ing
We live in a present shaped by predefined scripts, hungry algorithms, and extractivist protocols that erode our capacity to process, act, and think. But nobody lives in outcomes alone. We live inside the doing, and what we repeatedly do shapes what we become. Therefore, the process is the message: how we do what we do – and how we design infrastructures and protocols – matters.
As an attitude and method experimental and undetermined processes driven by continuous feedbacks are a fundamental constituent of artistic work and of CTM’s own history. Within CTM 2027, process…ing means resisting closure and elevating the collective acts of making and sharing above the polished artifact. In a world that demands finished results, we choose to remain unfinished, in relation, and present.
Open Calls
Two open calls are now announced, with more to come at the end of summer.
After more than a decade, we've shifted the CTM Radio Lab into a new format titled »In Listening« that zeroes in on sound-focused experiences.
The Research Networking Day seeks proposals for short presentations responding to the CTM 2027 theme, Process…ing.
Coming late August, our call for the Resynthesising the Traditional artistic lab invites artists worldwide who engage critically and in-depth with sonic traditions and transform them into contemporary contexts.
An open call for a new artistic lab experimenting with spatial audio will follow in September.

transmediale
Our sister festival transmediale will be celebrating their 40th anniversary from 28 – 31 January 2027. Under the title »groundstates«, the festival unfolds as a decentralised system, foregrounding a multiplicity of internets and resisting the expectation of a single technological future. The festival is curated by Barbara Cueto, and will be accompanied by the exhibition »Fragile Currents« curated by Antonina Stebur, which takes working with ruins as a method to treat infrastructural breakdown as a condition from which other forms of organisation can emerge.
