1Debit’s album Potpourri is a formidable record of techno-fried acid house syncopated with the propulsion of Mexican guarachero, drawing upon the ingenuity of Monterrey’s club culture alongside the machine-born vocabularies of Chicago and Detroit. Drums lurch and gallop, basslines coil with a corrosive gleam, and rhythms cross one another in patterns that make time feel elastic. The Roland TB-303, that celebrated engine of squelching delirium, becomes one of the album’s principal agents of disturbance, its tones writhing through the record in acid tones etching energy into the dance muscles. Created with biānjiè.systems, »Potpourri« AV extends this volatile architecture into a shared state of sensory mutation.

With the speed and force of Dutch hardcore, Spekki Webu weaves spatially hypnotic club music for psyched-out journeys. Visual artist Matti Vilho builds surreal worlds of animation, live visuals and rave culture, as much dream logic as science fiction. Their collaborative work »Signal Transmutations« is a transmission from a place where the machinery has begun to spore. A monolithic fungus blooms as a Tree of Life, mycelium tangled with cables and glowing interfaces. Forms and the echoes of forms emerge, submerge through the subconscious to germinate as the music drifts through states of dissoluted trance, caught inside a vast biological process.
Together with master percussionist Hogir, ABADIR presents his new EP The Primitivist. For decades, electronic music has treated futurism as shorthand for innovation, recycling visions of technological utopias and dystopias while insisting on the Next and the New. But whose future are we imagining when so much of the world is still struggling with the realities of the present? Drawing on musical traditions from across the Arab region, The Primitivist asks and answers what happens when you take cultural knowledge seriously enough to question and transform it.
