The weight of voice reborn, the veils of identity shifted.

As the vocalist and multi-instrumentalist of Lankum and a member of the darkly incandescent ensemble ØXN, Radie Peat has become a custodian of the Irish song tradition, wielding her magnificent contralto with preternatural command to render each utterance as uncommon consequence. Out on Rough Trade, Radie’s long-gestating solo debut »No Human Tongue Can Tell« draws upon centuries of human feeling sedimented within the repertoire. Each song has been made into a repository of forgotten calamities and concealed rebellions, staggered by emotions which have long outlived the circumstances which engendered them.

Klara Lewis coaxes unfamiliar emotional contours from sounds whose origins remain tantalisingly discernible. The music of the Swedish composer inhabits an uncertain land upon the borders of electroacoustic composition and the oblique remnants of song where a fragment may be disassembled and reconstituted until its identity smears, becoming elusive and strangely affecting. She’ll perform her new album »Opening,« its illuding feints and beguilements built of discombobulatory processes which veil, unveil, collapse and reform in a flickering half-light.
