As the economic situation for club and music culture is ever more untenable, cultural funding becomes increasingly conditional, and political pressures more explicit, there is a pressing need to build stronger, more diverse support systems that don't leave music culture vulnerable when any single source falters. Many communities have always existed outside institutional or profit-driven frameworks, building their own spaces, economies, and care structures. This panel asks: What can we learn from these models? What are newly emerging ideas? How do we share skills, resources, and spaces without replicating hierarchies or dependencies? From sound systems to mutual aid networks, from collectively-run venues to informal knowledge economies, what are some of the practical tools and political commitments needed to sustain resilient dance music cultures in the long-term? A conversation about strategic diversification, practical exchange, and creating structures where mutual dependence doesn't mean unequal burden.
