Refuge x CTM 2023 Events
On Monday 30 January, Refuge will hosting a beginner-friendly DJ workshop with Happy New Tears at their space Oona Bar at 17:00. The session will cover basic music theory related to DJ practices, and a technical rundown on hardware that meets club standards. Participants will take a moment to think about the community/scene(s) they wish to represent and how this might fit into their working process, and why it matters where DJs choose to play. The session is now full.
On Saturday 4 February, the duos Menzi & Debmaster as well as Binghi & Astan KA will grace the Refuge Worldwide stage at RSO.Berlin, joined by a group of Refuge regulars and collaborators. When not busy throwing events with Einhundert or Paperwork, Nico Adomako surfs the UK bass horizon, adding selections of RnB, ghanaian sounds, and reggae to the brew. Lecken & Wax Treatment affiliate Killa will go b2b with bass and leftfield house proponent Monibi. Through his selections, Philou Louzolo explores an intrinsic, deeply personal need to connect the traditional ancestral sound of his African heritage, with progressive sounds of afropop, r&b, trap, dancehall, fusion, and intergalactic electronic music. Refuge Worldwide co-founder Richard Akingbehin will warm up the room with a mix of dub-influenced club styles.
