Growlers Choir

Led by ensemble director Pierre-Luc Senécal along with nine growlers from the Growlers Choir, this session begins with a brief overview of the choir’s history and activities, as well as of the vocal apparatus involved in growling. Senécal will further elaborate on his approach to composition for the choir, supported by listening examples from their repertoire. Choir members will activate the session through demonstrations of different growl techniques, both as solo singers and together as an ensemble. To round out the session, Senécal and the growlers will lead a participatory sound-painting exercise with workshop participants.

This workshop is open to all, no prior knowledge is required.
