    During this interactive workshop, Portrait XO and Noah Pred demonstrate practical applications of sonification in contemporary production practice using a collection of Max for Live devices developed by Pred for Manifest Audio. Participants will learn how to source, curate, navigate, and deploy data sets in a creative context. The workshop will cover:

    • Examples of data sonification works by Portrait XO, Noah Pred, and others
    • Why use sonification? Embedding real-world phenomena and discourse in creative practice.
    • How to source data – and prepare it for sonification.
    • Considering and counteracting bias in data collection.
    • Audience participation: sonification in practice.

    Requirements

    Participants should possess basic knowledge of music production in Ableton Live.
