MASSV began in 1999 as a small rave party in Maracaibo, Venezuela, growing to become a yearly festival that offers almost every genre of underground electronic music. When the pandemic hit, a few of the scene’s stalwart artists and supporters began streaming regular events on Twitch as the Tekno Oldschoolers. For their upcoming edition, the livestream event showcases Venezuelan artists that have made Berlin their home. While the event spans three days, on Friday 30 October CTM co-hosts an evening of energetic dancefloor sounds.
Aérea Negrot has crafted her own unique approach, combining technoid grooves, operatic vocals and abstracted pop, allowing her various disciplines to overlap into something delightfully demented, bursting with personality, nimbly leaning toward the future while still keeping one pinky-toe in the traditions of classicism.
Koromoto emerged from the darkness of Caracas nights at the end of the century. The passionate music producer and collector blends the rhythmic luminosity of the Caribbean with techno, acid, and dub hypnotism.
In her high-energy sets, Hyperaktivist oscillates between faster techno and house rooted in 90s influences and old school tracks. She is a resident and organiser of Mess, Mindful Electronic Sonic Selections a forward thinking club night with a focus on womxn artists.
Trujillo pairs his well-honed sense of soul, disco and tropical 80s house rhythms with an energized devotion to digging up dusty dance floor tunes, while Mickey rounds out the night with far ranging selections of breaks, raves acid, and pounding techno.
The audience is also invited to send drops (tokens) to the performing artists of their choice via the web-based app, Eventivize. Keep an eye out for QR codes and links that we will share over socials, and via the Teckno Oldschoolers website and Twitch stream, and scan/click these to register. When registered, you’ll receive an email confirmation, along with a minimum of 500 drops. You will then be directed to the event page, where you can choose which artist to send drops to, and how much. Drops may only be given to the artist currently playing live, or the previous performer. After the event, the artists will receive further compensation from the event organisers, based on how many drops they have received respectively.
MASSV continue their Hallowe’en weekend on Saturday, check the programme here. Be sure to also check out past events and performances on the Tekno Oldschoolers website.
