Goethe-Institut x Somerset House Studios x CTM 2026 Residency Announced

Residencies and Commissioned Works

Somerset House Studios, Goethe-Institut London and CTM Festival partner on residencies supporting Germany-based artists working with music and sound.

In January 2026, artist Hanne Lippard began a three-month residency at Somerset House Studios to develop a new commissioned work in collaboration with Goethe Institut London and CTM Festival, to be presented at Assembly in 2026 and CTM Festival in 2027. Working between voice and text, Lippard shapes performances and sound installations that examine how language structures contemporary life. Drawing on public speech and digital communication, she reveals the systems, repetitions, and subtle automatisms embedded in everyday words. By weaving found material with her own writing and manipulating tone and meaning, she exposes how mediation reshapes our relationship to language.

Somerset House Studios’ experimental sound and music series Assembly also returns with a three-day program, featuring Ellen Arkbro presenting »For Crumhorns and Regal,« her new work conceived in collaboration with the London Crumhorn Consort, and Lippard presenting a newly commissioned work with Renato Grieco, stemming from research into the field of language and voice.

Commissioned by Somerset House Studios and Goethe-Institut London in partnership with CTM Festival Berlin.
