In this conversation, moderated by curator Övül Durmusoglu, artists Hoda Afshar and Pinar Öğrenci engage in a dialogue around their artistic practices and the questions that connect them. Through their works, they explore themes of migration, displacement, friendship, and the notion of home, alongside broader concerns of social justice and community building.
Both artists work closely with communities and their stories, addressing histories shaped by violence, memory, and loss, while also considering processes of repair and care. Drawing on archival research and image-making as an evolving process, they rethink dominant narratives and develop transnational practices grounded in collaboration, attentiveness, and trust. The conversation will also reflect on the use of beauty as a means to give agency and humanise lived experience.
