What forms of perception might arise when the heavens are composed around the act of listening?

First conceived in 2023, Portale enters its third iteration with a renewed inquiry into planetarium possibilities. Within Portale a planetarium’s primary agent of revelation becomes sound. The enticing curvature of its dome assumes the position of instrument, Eye led by Ear towards a hidden and indivisible principle of image and tone. Beneath the twenty-three-metre vault, the audience reclines within a sphere of vision as Ambisonic sound courses through a system of forty-nine point four loudspeakers.

Eleven audiovisual works unfurl within: the remnants of obsolete system files are summoned forth as chromatic and acoustic matter; magnified fragments of the human body dilate into landscapes possessed of an intimate warmth; the discontinuities of drawing, scanning and electronic display spawn drifting apparitions, while an organism traverses the conjectural immensities of a digital future.
