Operating under kNN, Naples-based composer and sound artist Renato Grieco splices together field recordings with magnetic tape, amplified objects and invented instruments, creating dense musique concrète of fragmented speech and instrumental residue. His is a fascination with listening, extending into the physical design of custom objects and sculptural environments, each becoming part of the machinery through which his work is heard. Steeped in fictional archaeology and speculative folklore, buried voices and obsolete technologies are pulled into elaborate sonic hallucinations.
