Jan St. Werner

Much of Jan St. Werner’s work begins with an act of disturbance: a rhythm is displaced; a frequency is nudged a touch beyond its familiar contour; an acoustic object is made to speak in an unfamiliar tongue. His compositions can feel crystalline and alien, then suddenly gush with warm melodies. This restless curiosity has carried into installations, film, spatial compositions and performances both solo and as one half of Mouse on Mars. Across all forms and aliases, Werner remains drawn to evoking the uncanniest of aurals from unexpected corners.
