The intricate audio-visual frameworks of Genoël von Lilienstern are designed to dismantle the traditional dynamics of concerts. A hyper-rigorous formal structure sits atop volatile experimental theater, from orchestral pieces loaded with vintage analog synthesizers to automated ballets scored for flying drones and custom-built robots. His compositions turn technological objects into physical musical bodies, loudspeakers, computers and machines brought into direct view. Sound becomes inseparable from movement, mechanics and spatial presence, with electronic systems treated as compositional material.
