Federico Visi

Building from physiological signals, Federico Visi uses motion-sensing technologies and custom-built instruments together with machine learning to make the body itself part of the musical system. This unstable partnership induces situations in which gestures are translated and misread, transforming them in real time. A researcher and composer as well as the designer of the instrument Sophtar, his research has followed these questions through networked performance, embodied interaction and post-digital instrument design, while his compositions have extended into film, dance, theatre, installations and experimental performance.
