A former psychiatrist turned artist and composer, Fá Maria’s melange of voice, electronics, AI and A/V forms can be tender, slipping into sensual weightlessness before turning vicious, with voices stretched and reconstructed until they transcend the borders of flesh and machine. Mouth and throat become sites of investigation, the intimate mechanics of breathing, swallowing, speaking and screaming transformed. Also known as HAUT, their wider work extends into film, dance and installation.
