Joyfully weird, Everything Is Psychedelic is a pure blast of gonzo joy, their corrupted hard drive mentosis a cheekily volatile chemistry of grounded conversational presence and ouroboric production dismantling itself ass-first. A headtrip from the minds of Birmingham rapper Tony Bontana and London producer psychedelic ensemble delivered in that unmistakably Brummie voice, deadpan humour and blunt confession ride fractured samples and industrialised percussion down roads cobbled in free-noise punk and art-rock rap, all prone to suddenly veer into a sewage ditch. The smudgy fingerprints of URL music culture drops in all the obscure samples, film references and weird humour from its sprawling vocabulary, sudden absurdist movements flipping the painfully sincere ones and vice-versa. Beneath those abrasive surfaces one can detect a fascination with the ways people try to make sense of our increasingly ridiculous (and increasingly difficult to change) world.
