Hamburg-based composer and performer Dong Zhou has an abiding interest in the stories technology tells about us, and in the unusual ways that machine interfaces and mediated environments begin to shape identity and expression. This interest runs through a broader practice of composition, multimedia performance and research, as well as live performance under the name Congee Rats. Her emotionally charged environments turn personal experience into darker and less easily contained atmospheres, digital systems becoming instruments and subjects of scrutiny.
