Varoujan Chetirian is an Armenian-Swiss sound artist and curator based in Berlin. His projects are often inspired by in-depth field research, including artistic residencies, site-specific creations, and a focus on field recording. His recent solo projects explore themes such as sound, space, architecture, and the cosmos. Since 2021, he has been working in an abandoned spatial centre in the Armenian mountains, creating sound experiences based on the architectural resonances of telescopes, and thinking about notions of space, time, and broader geopolitical narratives surrounding the cultural concept of the »future.«

Since 2024, Chetirian has founded and directed the NOPA festival in Yerevan, Armenia, which invites over 50 artists and researchers each year for a ten-day program featuring sound installations, workshops, performances, club nights, sound walks, and conferences. Since 2026, he curates a two-year programme involving exhibitions, residencies, and a publication about the cosmos, Armenia, and sound.
