Reshaping Iranian musical codes.

Prominent Iranian-American composer and producer Sote is a longtime friend and guest artist of CTM. His compositions often examine microtonal structures, folk traditions, and modal systems, reinterpreted within the framework of noise, rhythm, and intense sound design. Living and working in Tehran, his role in cultivating Iran’s experimental electronic community is integral, his mentorship of younger artists fostering dialogue between traditional practice and forward-looking innovation. Sote's wide-ranging love of rich sounds and textures is embodied in diverse paths such as hardcore club sounds, collaborations that straddle (traditional) acoustic and electronic instrumentation, and solo experimental electronics.

Over the last two decades, he has released on Warp, Sub Rosa, Morphine, Diagonal, Opal Tapes, and his own label Zabte Sote. His recent album Ministry of Tall Tales, out on SVBKVLT, demonstrates his necessarily deeply political and emotional approach as it confronts themes of corruption and resilience. His music consistently resists easy categorisation, performed across concert halls, club systems, and gallery spaces, yet always carrying within it a focus on destabilizing familiar sonic narratives.
