Marina Tantanozi is a flutist, improviser, curator, and sound artist from Thessaloniki, now based in Basel. Her practice moves through improvised music and its many offshoots, tracing how sound can shape communication, presence, and perception of time. In her solo work, the flute merges with voice, electronics, and microtonal elements to form an evolving sonic language – one that stretches the boundaries of her instruments and reimagines what they can express. Her projects often take form as open compositions, scores, or other formats, using improvisation and field recordings.

Active in various contexts across Europe, she collaborates widely with musicians and collectives while co-directing the No Ordinary Festival in Thessaloniki and the Phoném Festival in Zürich. Tantanozi has appeared at major international festivals including Irtijal in Beirut, Borderline in Athens, and Jazz em Agosto in Lisbon, with releases on Montagne Noire, Intakt, and Carton Records, among others.
