The experiential and architectural dimensions of audio.

Jan Urbiks is a Berlin-based audio communication professional, spatial sound composer, and percussionist whose practice unfolds at the meeting point of sound art, research, and advanced audio technologies. Grounded in an experimental and concept-driven approach, his work focuses on how sound occupies space and affects perception, drawing on psychoacoustics and hands-on engineering. Sound, for Urbiks, is a system of relations shaped through careful listening and embodied performance. As co-founder of Urbiks Music he has played a key role in developing a spatial mastering studio focused on both academic research and applied production. His work spans spatial audio mixing for orchestral and experimental projects, opera, and intercultural recordings, alongside educational initiatives and workshops on spatial audio production and mastering.
