Founding the legendary experimentalist weirdos Boredoms in 1986, ∈Y∋ (or EYE) continued a lineage born at the helm of Hanatarash, the Japanoise outfit whose live shows became the stuff of legend for unchecked physical and sonic chaos, from heavy machinery and power tools to on-stage destruction that led to bans from venues across Japan. Later intersecting with John Zorn's Naked City project, his avant sonic oddities pull from free jazz, hardcore, noise, psychedelia, and pure gonzo ritual. His trajectory later expanded into the mass participatory drum events 77BOADRUM and 88BOADRUM, where timekeeping dissolved into collective trance. Since the mid-90s his DJing has threaded festivals and parties with the same unruly intelligence, the booth commandeered as a laboratory. Across sound, art, exhibition, performance, and large scale installation, EYE operates with sensors, bodies, and environments as equal collaborators. Always mutating, loudly.
Collaborating with EYE, C.O.L.O exists in the wobble of perception. A live visual artist and the founder of COSMIC LAB, the name is short for Cosmic Oscillation Luminary Operator: a clue rather than a definition, pointing toward a practice that dismantles visual information until it flickers at the level of pure light. Through oscillation and distortion, C.O.L.O reshapes optical reality into immersive states that drift between the conscious and the unconscious.
