
Alona Karavai is a cultural manager, curator, and essayist, and co-founder of Insha Osvita. In 2023 she received the Kairos Prize for cultural actors. She's currently a fellow of the first cohort of the Alliance for Socially Engaged Arts and was an Allianz Foundation Fellow in 2025, and is a key expert in the Art and Culture sector within the analytical project RES-POL. Her work focuses on ties and tension within the Ukrainian art community in Ukraine and abroad, as well as on themes of peripheries, absence, and local art communities.
Insha Osvita, meaning another education in Ukrainian, is an ecosystem of several institutions combining culture with political education and activism. The ecosystem includes the art institution Asortymentna kimnata, the residency house Khata Maysternya, an archive on art after impreza, the publishing project ilostmylibrary, and the contemporary art school and laboratory fra fra fra.
