Yann Martins is a coder, artist, and Ph.D. researcher at the Institute for Experimental Design and Media Cultures (IXDM), where his work merges software development with critical inquiries into technology’s societal impact, with ongoing projects like Thinking Toys for Commoning—where he develops agent-based models—and Architectonic Radio Explorations, employing Self-Organizing Maps. His doctoral research critically examines how capitalist production modes and machine learning perpetuate inequality and discrimination, a theme he explores through »Critical Debugging,« subverting standard browser functions to reveal hidden algorithmic processes.

Martins has also pioneered an innovative teaching program at the Critical Media Lab, linking tech education with cooking to foster alternative learning experiences. Driven by a belief in sustainable, non-neoliberal ways of living, he actively contributes to projects focused on commoning and the Commons.
