Twin brothers Jack and George Barnett are defined by a restless drive to dismantle boundaries between genres. Initially energised by UK post-punk and the twitchy energy of Aphex Twin’s electronic landscapes, the Barnetts quickly grew past these roots, collaborating with artists and even a 35-piece orchestra to hone a sound that defies easy classification. Equal parts high-concept artisans and ambitious pop architects, they make music that feels as timeless as it is avant-garde, exploring a space where the beat of modernity meets a shadowed nostalgia.
With each album, These New Puritans have leaned further into their post-classical, minimalist vision, crafting a kind of pop that remains tantalisingly elusive. Their music has an intentional ambiguity, weaving a persistent undercurrent of questioning and a sonic warmth that resists clear interpretation. Tracks shift and morph, blurring edges and never settling into predictable patterns—echoing the depths of their English roots, yet stretching far beyond it. There is a quiet, potent force at play in their work, a tension between openness and privacy, accessibility and enigma, where lyrics and melodies spiral around a core that remains, defiantly, just out of reach. Join us at CTM as they present their all-new album.
