Interdisciplinary approaches and speculative explorations.

Michael Salu is a British-born Nigerian writer, artist, filmmaker, and editor whose interdisciplinary work explores the intersections of art, literature, and technology. His projects range from literary fiction and essays to virtual art installations, often investigating how storytelling shapes our understanding of identity and culture in an increasingly digital age. Through his consultancy House of Thought and his role in the Planetary Portals collective, Salu advocates for interdisciplinary approaches to creative and critical practice.

Salu’s visual and narrative work often engages with speculative themes, such as in his film »Solitary Breath,« which blends AI, 3D modeling, and Yoruba mythology to examine how cultural memory can persist or be erased in virtual spaces. This project emerged from »The Red Earth Project,« a research initiative investigating alternative cosmologies in AI-driven architectures. His anthology »Cybernetics, or Ghosts?« similarly bridges disciplines, featuring stories that respond to Calvino’s vision of machine authorship and a companion album where musicians reflect on the evolving relationship between AI and creativity.
