Evocative tapestries of melody and noise hovering between introspection and catharsis.

Mexican violinist and composer Cervantes melds the grace of classical tradition with the raw intensity of metal. With an ear attuned to experimentation, she’s transformed the violin into a vessel for uncharted sonic exploration, employing innovative sound processing techniques to harness noise as a vital compositional tool.

Formerly a curator of Mexico City’s burgeoning sound art scene and co-founder of the 316centro gallery, Cervantes is now based in London. Her work extends into collaborative projects such as Amor Muere and Vyctoria, where her dual commitment to melody and atmosphere takes flight. Currently, her focus shifts to the bioacoustics of cloud forests, where she applies extended violin techniques and electronic manipulations to evoke the interplay between natural soundscapes and human intervention, crafting an auditory dialogue as rich and layered as her evolving practice.
