At CTM 2024, Félicia Atkinson will premiere »Thinking Through the Iceberg,« an experimental oratorio for three characters, with the collaboration of the abstract guitarist Jules Reidy and the sound artist crys cole.

For Felicia Atkinson, human voices inhabit an ecology alongside and within many other things that don’t speak, in the conventional sense: landscapes, images, books, memories, ideas. Her artistic work imagines possibilities of animating and entering into dialogue with such entities. The practice of the sound artist crys cole seeks seemingly mundane materials, with which she creates subtle electro-acoustic works that continuously retune the ear. Ahead of their premiere at CTM, Atkinson and cole will speak with the media and art scholar Daniel Irrgang on their collaboration and intersecting approaches, and on revealing complex and fragile interconnectedness even in places where there seems to be no life at all.
