While music is at the heart of her work, she likes to create total, synesthetic experiences that sometimes invite audience participation. Her work aims to enchant in a poetic way in order to reconstruct lost listening relationships, whether with more-than-human species (birds, plants) or ancient folk traditions (Armenian improvising troubadours, Ashugh).
She reflects on themes such as collective memory and the resonance of mnemonic instruments (oral tales, theatre, music, scores, weavings, etc.). She has written a text titled »Lullabies of the Post-Nostalgic,« in which she reflects on how to ensure the survival of threatened cultures such as Armenian music without falling into nationalist models and letting the music live rather than ‘fixing’ it, as Western scores and the urge to »fidelity« tends to do.
