    • As a non-binary artist, NZIRIA integrates the main forms and themes of the Neomelodic song, while regenerating the cis-heteronormative scenario.

    Through a powerful and androgynous singing, they reinterpret the stereotyped, almost archetypal stories of the Neomelodic genre, welcoming narratives of the LGBTQI+ community and singing of queer love and mercurial identities. Hard Neomelodic is the term chosen by the artist to describe their quest, generating a sonic space in which disruptive tonalities such as those of the Neomelodic and Hardcore are combined to celebrate hybridity as an arena for unrestricted self-determination.

    For their CTM show, made possible through a SHAPE+-residency, they’ll present the site-specific performance »And then a Flame Rumbled Like an Earthquake« co-directed with the visual artist Bianca Peruzzi. A sequence of tableaux vivants, choreographed by Franka Marlene Foth who will also take part in the performance with fellow dancer Janan Laubscher, will embody NZIRIA’s music surrounded by an otherworldly light environment by Bianca, as to give a full immersive aesthetic experience.
