For CTM's contribution to »Queers in Concert« hosted by our longstanding partner Schwuz, we are delighted to present a programme that reflects the events we’ve executed together in efforts to highlight Berlin’s talented queer community.

»Queers in Concert« (QIC) is a series created by the city’s longest-running queer club, SchwuZ, to counteract the disappearance of queer culture during the pandemic by supporting active and ongoing participation of queer artists, who are invited to fill the silent halls of the SchwuZ with creative life, spectacular shows, and great live music over the course of the series’s six evenings. Hosted by rapper Sookee, the evenings are curated by activists, organisers, and artists who are all closely connected to SchwuZ, including Caramel Mafia, Tülin Duman, CTM Festival, Paura Diamante aka Jan Noll, Vanessa Cutraro (Buback), and Michael von Fischbach (SchwuZ).

For this evening curated by CTM Festival, are proud to introduce a number of artists whose atypical styles of variegated influences are departing into new frontiers.

From the genesis of her music career in 2014, when she was just starting out as a DJ with a residency at the r&b drag party Sissy, LINNÉA has become a vital presence in the queer music and party scene, initiating a platform and event series for female identifying and non-binary people in music titled No Shade. Her unconventional style integrates techno, eurodance, breakbeat, r&b, and neo-reggaeton to name just a few, morphing from oozing beats to energetic frequencies in a futuristic collision.

Challenging the societal battle over women’s sexualities and their right to autonomous labour, the Berlin Strippers Collective (BSC) is a creative and political group that aims to destigmatise and radically transform the sex worker industry. Since their founding at the end of 2019, the BSC has established an impressive global presence, creating an inclusive local and online community for strippers through open discussions and diverse events such as regular life drawing sessions, online cabaret-striptease shows, and their »Stripperature« book club, a feminist-text reading group for femme, women, and non-binary identifying individuals.

Tatiana Heuman aka QEEI works on music and sound creation between Argentina and Europe. Her solo electronic music project, begun in 2014,  comprises impulse, empowerment, chaos, and sensitivity as elements that are deeply influenced by her musical upbringing as a trumpet player and drummer with the free improv band Ricarda Cometa. After two EPs released in 2014 and 2016, her first full length album, QEEI, was released in 2018 on the New York label Astro Nautico. Understanding sounding and listening as a means of manifestation and empowerment, she develops music production and Deep Listening laboratories and workshops. She is part of the collectives #VIVAS (female* sounds archive) and TRRUENO both based in Buenos Aires, AR.

Ixa is a DJ, drag performer, performance artist, and self-proclaimed cyborg from a race of bioluminescent extraterrestrial creatures with Nubian features booming in speakers. Their psychedelic music combines elements of loud, digital distortion incorporating idm and industrial, with trap/hip hop at the core. Their new EP ANDROIDGYNE, released in August, begins with a conceptual premise of the rendering of a liquid rainbow anomaly into their native form as Ixa. In order to survive the planet’s atmospheric conditions, they have begun searching for Earthly technology to fuse with their body.

Brazilian producer and vocalist LYZZA has risen to become one of electronic music’s most promising avant pop producers. In the last few years she has transplanted herself from Amsterdam’s alternative music scene to oscillating between London and Berlin. A self-taught producer, LYZZA kickstarted her career in 2016 playing DJ-sets at vogue balls in Amsterdam before developing her experimental live performance that she last showcased alongside Nicolas Jaar. Since her spirited debut EP, Powerplay (2017), LYZZA’s reputation has been growing as someone who dares to think outside of the status quo. IMPOSTER, her second EP released in 2018, solidified the young artist as a composer and lyricist, and earned her the title of »Artist shaping the future of music for generations to come« by Crack Magazine.
