Schmidt, now 85 years old, has reinvented himself again and again; the film follows his path from classical conductor to student of Stockhausen and Ligeti to CAN, and then further on to film music for Wim Wenders and Roland Klick, opera, and electronic club music. Including rare, partly private photo and video recordings from a time that now seems very exotic, colorful, and crazy this biopic »makes you want to travel back in time and gives you the chance to have been there.« – Sunburnsout.
Following this first screening, Irmin Schmidt and director Michael P. Aust will deepen the insights of the film in a panel discussion and answer questions from the audience.
Contributors: Irmin Schmidt, Hildegard Schmidt, Roland Klick, Wim Wenders, Gregor Schwellenbach, Helmut Zerlett.
Language: German with English subtitles. The talk will be held in German.
Length: 85 minutes
