In recent years, Purgas has realised exhibitions and performances at Tramway, the Garden House Art Association, Camden Art Centre, Spike Island, and Kettles Yard. His written work includes essays for the Unsound:Undead collection published by Urbanomic/MIT Press, and the documentary features »Electronic India« and »Krishnamurti in England« for BBC Radio 3, which explore the history of experimental sound and spiritual philosophy in South Asia. His recent curatorial projects include Latent Joy at Somerset House London and curating the Wysing Arts Centre's annual arts and performance festival in 2018 with Moor Mother.

As part of the electronic music project Emptyset, Purgas works with electroacoustic and computer music and spatial sound. Emptyset has presented work at the Architecture Foundation, London, the Roberts Institute, and Tate Britain's Performing Architecture program, and has performed at festivals such as Sonic Acts, Unsound, CTM Festival, and Wien Modern.
