The 23 year-old Indonesian dance music provocateur is a leader of wisisi, the fast-paced, relentless, and  trance-inducing sound from Wamena, West Papua.

Traditional wisisi is a ritualistic music – played on homemade instruments made of wood and leather – and dance often performed at harvest ceremonies, funerals, and weddings. This new electronic version was pioneered by Nikolas Surabut, spread quickly, and soon taken up by Nayak, with his own cracked version of FL Studio. Now its own scene and genre, it has been compared to Malian electrobalani and South African shangaan electro.
