Music Licensing and Composing for Film, Games & Other Media

Workshop with James Ginzburg



 

This workshop will look at the relationship between creative musical practice and commercial use of music, both in terms of music licensing as well as commissions to compose for media such as film, games, adverts, and fashion, specifically in the context of experimental music.

Geared towards people who have an existing creative music practice and are curious about how music licensing, publishing, and commissioned composition work, the workshop will address where to find such opportunities, how to manage and prioritise them, and what the industry process entails across a range of different media and contexts.

Questions of maintaining integrity in the face of corporate exploitation, working within a music community, and maintaining mental health while working in these fields will also be addressed.
