A renewed initiative co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union, the SHAPE platform reunites 16 European non-profit organisations active within the ICAS – International Cities of Advanced Sound network to create a platform that aims to support, promote and exchange innovative and aspiring emergent musicians and interdisciplinary artists with an interest in sound. The organisation supported a total of 144 artists for three years from 2015 to 2017 and was been renewed for another four years starting in 2018.
SHAPE presents its fifth year at CTM 2019. They support the Network Speed Dating event, the MusicMakers Hacklab, and a series of SHAPE artist talks for the CTM 2019 Discourse programme. These are TBC, so please stay tuned!
SHAPE Artists at CTM 2019
CTM 2019 will also feature performances by a wealth of different SHAPE-supported artists over its ten-day schedule of events. DJ AZF is known as one of the most exciting names in French techno; Erwan Keravec is the Breton piper who fuses folk bagpipe traditions with contemporary music; Lucy Railton bridges electroacoustic and modern classical music through cello experimentation; Maria W Horn, the Swedish composer, distorts time and space through sonic extremes; Sentimental Rave's DJ sets weave together gabber, hard techno, and acerbic rave sounds; Schtum is the duo stretching abrasive sounds to latent breaking points.
