Workshop with Jan St. Werner

WeSA Academy₩33-88
In this workshop, Jan St. Werner of the pioneering group Mouse on Mars will explore sound and how it can be understood artistically, independent of musical categories. The focus is on aspects of aesthetics, phenomenology, and perceptual psychology – in particular, multisensory integration, body schemes, and auditory spatial cognition – as well as architectural perspectives on sound and its role in constituting spatiality.
Sound here is not viewed as a classical acoustic signal, but as a dynamic vector mediating between the interfaces of body and environment. Through a mix of presentations and practical experiments, the seminar develops approaches to how auditory experiences can influence architectural structures, the perception of movement, and spatial orientation, ultimately transforming the conditions of spatial perception.
