Drawing heavy air through cracked bellows to awaken a leviathan that breathes right back, the minimal roots Big Brave draw out branch into crushing expanses of silence-devouring sound. The trio from Montreal construct architecture from ruin, guitars and percussive textures shivering together in configurations so tight they blur between whisper and roar. Works surge with tectonic tension, guitars and feedback tearing against reality’s shroud as Robin Watties’s voice threads through whirlwinds, pulverising memory into resonance. This vast collapse of tone demands your guts, every vibration tracking the frailty and ferocity of being.
For this show, they'll be performing their upcoming album in grief or in hope. Pushing their sound into heavier and more densely layered terrain, the album captures the immense physical force of their performances while threading themes of grief, hope, life and mortality through Wattie’s stark voice. Recorded live, subtle callbacks to earlier releases reflect the band’s evolving identity as the album move between ghostly restraint and crushing crescendos.
Kuntari’s sound is birthed in primal-core tectonics where Tesla Manaf and Rio Abror conjure horizons of wild sound and complex drums entangling into the rhythm of blood pounding in your ears. Their path from jazz orthodoxy into raw ceremonial form drags Indonesian heritage into a fusion of microtonal chimes and dense, earthbound textures. Voices cut through like ritual signals, percussive patterns repeating until they become trance and command. Atmosphere becomes pressurized, coiling around each groove.
