Sound Heterogeneous Art and Performance in Europe

The next stage of the SHAPE platform, titled SHAPE+, expanded the focus of supporting Europe-based experimental artists through touring opportunities through an additional focus on residencies.

SHAPE+ was new European platform for innovative music and audiovisual art co-financed by the Creative Europe programme, and in 2024-25 by Pro Helvetia. It's aim was to foster exceptional emerging talent through a yearly roster of artists that will be supported through touring opportunities, as well as a number of residencies that connect international artists to local actors at each SHAPE+ member organization. Artist selection was done though a combination of yearly open call and curatorial selection.

SHAPE+ consisted of 18 partners in 15 countries. It built upon the previous SHAPE platform, which from 2015 to 2022 supported 336 emerging European artists and presented their work at festivals, events and venues in numerous countries across Europe and beyond.

Artist Rosters

Yearly listing of supported artists. Rosters are active for the period of one year, starting mid-July.

Radio Network

This media partner network of 14 radio stations in 14 countries features monthly contributions from supported artists.

Residencies

Each SHAPE+ member organisation hosts two yearly residencies that pairs an artist from that respective year's roster with the local scene.

Showcases

Each year, SHAPE+ puts together an international showcase to feature a selection of its current supported artist roster outside of the European Union.
