Technological mediations on collective memory and cultural heritage.

Nino Davadze aka Nino Dava listens across the thresholds between human and nonhuman worlds. Ecological listening and feminist research converge in the sound artist and researcher’s work, based in choral singing within Orthodox and folk traditions. Folk music enters the unpredictable turbulence of contemporary sound to become a means of sensing our entanglement with one another and with the extra-human; noise is wielded as a political construct and a means of extending perception into more open and indeterminate forms of listening. Davadze is a co-founder of Plazm, a Tbilisi platform for experimental music and performance, as well as an author and radio host. Her ongoing City Kidz programme on Mutant Radio traces the independent communities and subterranean cultural currents of Eastern Europe.
