Since its inception in 2017, SOFT CENTRE’s annual festival in Sydney carved a distinct path through the intersections of experimental sound, digital media, and performance art, crafting immersive experiences that were both disorienting and revelatory. Known for championing fringe subcultures and outsider art, the collective built its ethos on staunch experimentation and cross-disciplinary collaboration, dismantling conventional artistic structures to showcase future-facing creators.
At CTM 2025, SOFT CENTRE co-curated a series of projects that brought leading voices from Australia’s underground to Berlin's RSO. Berlin’s main floor hosted Karina Utomo (RINUWAT, Kilat), Joshua Wells (A Colourful Storm, Downwards)and R. Rebeiro (HTRK, My Disco). On RSO’s second floor, SOFT CENTRE x CTM hosted a late-night club floor with Female Wizard’s cross-genre DJ set twisted expectations, rapper, producer, and performance artist SOLSA with SOFT CENTRE co-director Thick Owens debuting a blistering new live set, R. Rebeiro and Joshua Wells performing solo, and Argentinian DJ and producer Tayhana uclosing the night.
Elsewhere, Radialsystem hosted the live film experiment »STACK«, a surreal exploration of posthumanism, bio-capitalism, and ecological horror, presented by artists Harrison Hall, Henry Lai-Pyne (Eek), Sam McGilp, and Alexander Powers (Female Wizard). The piece redefined sci-fi horror through the dematerialization of human matter, creating a striking meditation on power dynamics and cultural peculiarities.
CTM returned the favor with a visit to SOFT CENTRE Festival in Sydney, August 2025, featuring a curated showcase with null hypothesis, C Bong Sae and Alex Guevara presenting »Phantoms of Existence.«
